Distractions

Have you ever been in a situation where you have been totally distracted by a storm you were going through?

All you think about is the problem you are facing? In every spare moment, you are focused on what areas in your life you can change or ways in which you can improve your circumstances.

Or, have you ever come to such a point where you are so overwhelmed that even in your sleep or times of rest, your mind cannot find rest from the problem. And you simply cannot switch off.

It’s in times of trouble like this, that we need to seek the Lord, but not only for clarity and answers for our situation. But more to be removed from the situation and to be focused on the glory and goodness of God.

I find that in troubled times it helps not to focus on what is going on, but rather to focus on how great and marvelous God is.

When you focus on how great and mighty God is, you are actually building up your faith and trust in the Lord. And it gives you confidence that you can overcome that storm.

If you don’t know or are unsure of how to do this, just switch on some praise and worship. Even better still, go to church.

The amount of peace and comfort I find from just listening or singing out loud the praises of God. It is literally healing to my shattered soul.

Today, if you are going through a stormy season, sing out loud and declare the goodness of God. And see what a difference it makes to your mindset…

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalms 91:2 NIV
