How to Identify a Prayer Warrior

I can almost guarantee, that everyone reading this can identify the following person in their social circles…and if you cannot identify them, I would like to think the person is probably you…👇👇👇

But in every church, within every family, in every community, in fact all around us, you will always, without fail, find men and women who spend most of their time interceding for those closest to them.

And I’m not talking about your Pastors or church leaders neither am I referring to those who say a quick prayer for their families before bedtime. I’m talking about your grannies, grandfathers, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, neighbours or friends. Those who without even batting an eyelash will drop whatever they are doing and run to the altar whenever the need arises.

We all know that somebody who prays for people daily. Those who continuously stand in the gap for their friends and family, covering them with God’s protection and blessings. Those who build hedges around children and ask God to tie families and marriages together with cords of love and unity. Who pray for healing and break down strongholds and destroy the chains of curses and the demonic power of the enemy. Those who cover their friends and even random strangers with the redemptive Blood of Christ.

But the thing about these people is that they are not just randomly placed people. Neither are they normal people who just like to pray. These are men and women who are actually true life Prayer Warriors. And at most times they don’t even see themselves in that light, but in fact, Prayer Warriors is exactly who they are.

People who actively engage in a life of prayer understand the importance and know the great power of prayer. But what exactly makes their prayer lives so effective?? 🤔

How do effective Prayer Warriors pray?

The Bible gives us some insight into how to become a true, and effective prayer warrior.

Pray without ceasing.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer warriors pray without ceasing. They pray daily, shutting themselves in their closets, seeking the face of God. Prayer is not only part of their lives but a part of themselves and they would feel a sense of loss if they did not spend time with God.

Pray without ceasing.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray fervently.

James 5:16

Those who become effective prayer warriors pray with a deep passion and fervency. The intensity and zeal in their prayers is what fuels the effectiveness of their prayer.

‘The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ‘

James 5:16

Pray with faith.

Mark 11:24

In all honesty, what is the use of even attempting to pray if you don’t believe that God will hear you or answer your prayer. The problem with those who get easily discouraged when they pray is that they don’t really believe that God will answer their prayers. But Prayer Warriors are encouraged and motivated by the fact that they they know that whatever the outcome is, God will always intervene.

‘Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.’

Mark 11:24

In the book of Hosea, says, ‘As surely as the sun rises, He will appear. Intercessors know this all too well, that whenever and however you seek the Lord, He will be found.

‘Let us acknowledge the Lord ; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” ‘

Hosea 6:3 NIV

Pray with wisdom.

Proverbs 9:11

I love this one, because wisdom is not for everyone. 😀 Wisdom is a trait which is incredibly important whilst praying. We can never tell or fully know the outcome of what God intends to do in a situation. But we need to have the wisdom and knowledge to pray for God’s will in all situations. Sometimes we spend so much of energy and time in praying for an outcome that suits us and our agenda, that we are blindsided when God does the opposite. Rather we should be praying for God’s will and leaving the outcome in God’s hands. Wisdom and discernment allows us to separate our desires and God’s will.

‘For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. ‘

Proverbs 9:11

Pray with boldness.

Hebrews 4:16

Prayer warriors pray without fear. They confidently pray bold prayers and are never afraid to pray for the impossible. Bold prayers without fear is where miracles lie. Jesus prayed boldly, for men to walk, the blind to see and the dead to rise. And so should His followers.

‘Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.’

Hebrews 4:16
